Lamb Has One Day Left

Lamb is Ready to Decide Tomorrow (Rivals.com)

Cedarian Lamb knows that his recruitment hasn't been the most conventional from beginning to end. After picking up early offers he committed to Oklahoma last December but then the nation's No. 25 receiver continued to see more schools get involved and eventually decommitted from Oklahoma in late April. Almost three months later he is set to make his second, and supposedly final, decision.

As he wound his way to his decision Lamb says that things began to narrow down to a threesome of Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss - where he is visiting this weekend.

And throughout it he has had to battle the perception that his decommitment from Oklahoma was the death knell for the Sooners' pursuit. In fact it was something that the Sooners, led by outside wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons, have handled quite smoothly according to Lamb.

"Everyone thought since I decommitted that, you can’t go back. That’s what people think. It was crazy after I decommitted, I was still keeping up with the coaches, we talk every day," Lamb explained. "(Simmons and I) have talked about the whole situation, the decommitting and how I still felt about Oklahoma. We had all of that conversation, we are pretty much on the same page."

That being said, Lamb says that the Aggies have also been a constant in his recruitment as he has built a strong relationship with the staff as well as several members of their 2017 recruiting class.

"We are really close, we have a conversation like normal people, just a normal conversation," he said.

This weekend's trip to Ole Miss was set up with an idea of giving the Rebels a chance to turn his eyes away from the old Big 12 rivals.

"Well, I’m just trying to see what they have, see what they have and where I fit into receivers and where I fit into things," he said.

While juggling all of this Lamb has been taking part in a busy 7-on-7 schedule that included helping an all-star team, from Chicago, winning a title in Dallas as well as helping his Richmond (Texas) Foster team to a berth in the large class tournament championship bracket.

"Just doing a lot of 7-on-7, we lost in the first round of the championship bracket," he said of his team.

During the events Lamb began adjusting to the life of being the primary, and often sole, focus of a defense after splitting that role with class of 2016 Kansas signee Evan Fairs.

"It was just bound to happen, it was happening when I had both the receivers with me but it’s all part of the game. I’m ready for them to key on me. We’ve got another receiver that can hold it down when I can get doubled and tripled, he is going to have a big season this year," he said.

But how did he end up playing with a team full of players from Chicago?

"My friend moved from Chicago, he goes to Foster now, they asked him to play with them and asked if they had any good receivers. He sent them my highlights and they asked me to come play," he said. "It was fun overall, all the kids were good."

Lamb has also been working to continue to add to his long-time lean frame.

"I’ve been in the weight room, I’m at 185-pounds. I could play as a receiver, I’m fine, I have no issue but I’d like to get a little bit bigger," he said. "I want to keep my mobility."

But with all this said Lamb now sits roughly 24 hours away from announcing his college decision and he already knows how he'll be releasing the news - though a time has not yet been set.

"I’m putting it out on Twitter and it's just like a video thing. I’m on the phone but it’s a video."
