The Highlights of the 2016 Class

Now that National Signing Day has passed Oklahoma's 19 signees in the class of 2016 will start to see their lives return to normal. They'll take part in prom, award ceremonies at their high schools from coast to coast. And in the vein of the award ceremonies we think it's time to take a look at who might win the awards in the Sooners 2016 class.

Mr. President

Reasoning: Sylvie, from the moment he committed, quickly began taking on the role of a recruiter and one of the class's real leaders. Sylvie's personality, talent, general affability, and need to make the most of his ability makes him a true contender to be one of the lynchpins of this group.

Honorable Mention: Caleb Kelly

The Big Surprise

Reasoning: This is for the player that coming down the stretch of recruiting, no one saw coming. And can there be a better example of a player that going into the final weekend Oklahoma wasn't even expecting to host for an official visit? It's hard to think of one and for Oklahoma to have done so and land a member of the Rivals100? It's a near unthinkable steal for the Sooners.

Honorable Mention: Erik Swenson

The Game-Changer

Reasoning: I've said it time and again but there are few players in recent memory who seem more similar in Oklahoma recruiting than Parker and now NFL-departed Sooner Zack Sanchez. Parker has the ability to make the plays that can turn a game on it's ear and plays at a position where that ability is truly needed.

Honorable Mention: Abdul Adams

The Tough Guy

Reasoning: Valentin is a player who is just fun to watch - whether he is working on the second level, pulling, or simply lining up and overwhelming a defender. At nearly 340-pounds Valentin does impressive work when he locks onto a defensive lineman and crushes all hope of escape.

Honorable Mention: Ben Powers

Mr. Lynch

Reasoning: This one was just fun to come up with but one of my all-time favorite quotes is from the man who hated to be quoted, Marshawn Lynch - 'I'm just 'bout that action, boss'. Jackson isn't a guy who is a bad interview, in fact he is a very good one, however he is a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn't seem to let his mind slip for even a second. He stays on task and I think it's one of the more sheer indicators that he'll have, at least, a solid collegiate career.

Honorable Mention: Amani Bledsoe

The Man Mountain

Reasoning: This one should be pretty self-explanatory but in the years of Bill Bedenbaugh's recruiting this thing gets increasingly interesting as he seems to pursue one massive offensive lineman after another. Julious is among the biggest that Oklahoma has ever recruited and is already on campus.

Honorable Mention: Johncarlo Valentin

Mr. Olympia

Reasoning: Anyone who has seen Farrar in person knows what this is about, the guy is absolutely physically overwhelming. In fact if you sent the big man to the NFL combine in a few months, physically he would look the part. Now there is plenty of work to do for Farrar as he tries to turn all that athleticism into a fully developed receiver. But the bottom line for this award is Farrar is one of the more physically impressive receivers in recent memory.

Honorable Mention: Emmanuel Beal

Mr. Peek-a-Boo

Reasoning: This one may have a funny name but Terry is the guy I'm betting on as the player we look back on and thought was the most underrated. Terry is a player that was first noticed as a defensive end/tight end but he made the transition to inside linebacker as a senior and did so with truly rapid growth.

Honorable Mention: Abdul Adams

Mr. Personality

Reasoning: Kelly is a player that is just natural talking to both his peers as well as reporters, coaches, and just about anyone else he comes across. That ability draws players around him to him and it comes from the fact that Kelly always seems to be having fun.
